Supercapacitor, also known as double-layer capacitor, is a new type of capacitor that falls between traditional capacitors and batteries. The rated capacity value of the electrolytic capacitor can be as high as farads, and the biggest similarity between these two types of capacitors is that their capacity values are larger than those of other types of capacitors.
Theoretically, it is possible, but the conditions for replacement are more stringent. For example, the voltage withstand value of the electrolytic capacitor is higher than that of the ultra super capacitor. If the voltage withstand value of the supercapacitor happens to be able to adapt, then the value of the capacity also needs to be considered whether it is worth replacing. For example, the capacity value of the electrolytic capacitor is only one thousandth of the capacity value of the supercapacitor. If it is replaced, the resources wasted will be obvious.
If the voltage withstand value of ultra super capacitor is increased and the capacity value reduced by means of traditional capacitor series connection, the balance between the values can be achieved, and a replacement can be made. However, this method still has side effects. The volume of the ultra super capacitor in series connection will increase. If the volume exceeds that of the electrolytic capacitor to be replaced, the installation will be a more troublesome problem.
Another practical problem is that the cost of ultra super capacitor is much higher than that of electrolytic capacitors. Generally, if electrolytic capacitors are to be replaced by the supercapacitor, technical upgrading is needed to reduce the cost and increase the performance. If neither of these improvements have been achieved, it is still difficult for the ultra super capacitor to replace electrolytic capacitors.
